Black History

Contemporary. Accessible. Relatable.

ABOUT THE SERIES

History gets told by the victor. And we are more than just victims.

This series artistically explores the modern realities of Black youth. We travel across our community to highlight the aspects of Black History that are rarely discussed. With a goal of inclusivity, we strive to educate about the various trailblazers whose faces fade into time. Our goal is to repackage Black history to make it more contemporary, accessible and relatable. Most importantly, we want to create a series that focuses on positivity and empowerment of all identities.

On February 1st, 2019 explore what it means to be Black in America through music, dance, poetry, and documentary while also paying tribute to the multiple civil rights legends who paved the way. In this project, we will not focus on negative feelings. Instead, we will showcase how we are overcoming our negative past in pursuit of a better tomorrow.

We're going to The Mountaintop.

How will you celebrate Black History Month?
